What is coping skill? These are methods a person uses to deal with stressful situations. Coping skills can be both positive and negative. The difference lies in the ability to handle a situation to get the desired results.
What is a positive coping skill?
Strategies and methodologies that enable someone to handle a situation positively, without harming themselves or anyone else.
What is a negative coping skill? Strategies and methodologies that enable someone to handle a situation with the possibility of harming themselves or someone else or making the situation worse than it is.
Why is it important to understand and learn about positive coping skills?
·We feel better when we are calm.
·We can think more clearly when we are calm.
·We make better decisions when we are calm.
·We might not get in trouble as much when we are calm.

Talk about what disturbed you with someone, or as a video journal.

Positive Self Talk “I need to calm down and not do anything I will regret.”
Physical Distraction
Choosing to do something else
Randomization at this point is a blessing in disguise. Do whatever makes you happy or is able to distract you in that moment in time.
Talking to a friend on the phone or in person.
Counting backwards or singing the alphabet song.
Singing your favorite song

Jumping jacks, walking, swimming, running.
These are great way to deal with chronic work stress and helps to establish a calm routine with the release of good hormones.
